Cimafunk takes his stage name from Cubans of African descent who rebelled against slavery and his music mixes Afro-Cuban roots music with rock, funk, and rap. He plays NJPAC on July 31.

Palestinian-born, NY-based Firas Zreik plays the kanun, a zither used in classical Arab music. He and his band blend Maqam tradition and jazz when they play at Bar LunÁtico on July 30.

Singer-songwriter Patty Griffin has developed a faithful following for her American roots music. Her latest album is 'Crown of Roses' and it brings her to Sony Hall on July 29.
