BOB GARFIELD: And now an update. This spring we started following a story that began when the War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague subpoenaed former Washington Post reporter Jonathan Randall to testify against a Bosnian Serb it once quoted in a story. In July, the Washington Post announced that it would appeal the decision Randall and the Post arguing that testifying endangers journalists' lives and press freedoms and that reporters should not have to give testimony unless they have exclusive information that could determine guilt or innocence. This week the Post and Randall won that landmark battle. He will not be forced to testify in The Hague. Journalists and their sources can happily put this story to bed. [MUSIC TAG]
