Rebecca Lehrer
Director of Business Development, New York Public Radio
Rebecca Lehrer (related only in spirit to Brian Lehrer) is the Director of Business Development at New York Public Radio. New York Public Radio owns and operates WNYC-FM, WNYC-AM, WQXR, the four stations of New Jersey Public Radio, The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space, www.wnyc.org, www.wqxr.org and www.thegreenespace.org. Its shows, stations and digital properties reach 11.5 million people each month on average.
As Director of Business Development, Lehrer is responsible for cultivating strategic partnerships and new programming initiatives that extend New York Public Radio’s brands across diverse platforms. Recently, Lehrer helped plan and implement the live national tour for WNYC’s wildly popular show Radiolab. Lehrer also works closely with New York Public Radio’s executive team to position the company for continued growth in the digital space. She has worked on key distribution deals to bring New York Public Radio’s audio content to third party platforms like iHeartRadio and Soundcloud. She was also an essential part of the team that structured and launched Schoolbook, WNYC’s collaborative education initiative with The New York Times. In 2009, she was a part of the team working on New York Public Radio’s acquisition of WQXR, the only all classical radio station in New York City.
Prior to New York Public Radio, Lehrer held marketing and communications positions at an artist residency program in San Francisco and coordinated membership and marketing at the Flea Theater in TriBeCa.
She has a B.A. in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University and an M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management. Lehrer is a die-hard WNYC/WQXR fan, albeit now exclusively through apps and online, and a long time sustaining member. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband.
