Kim earned her M.A. in online journalism and digital media from the USC Annenberg School for Journalism where she sought out some of the country’s best thinkers and doers when it comes to digital media best-practices and experimentation.
She came to New York in the summer of 2011, after being selected from hundreds of applications to work as the news digital intern at The New York Times where she worked on the metro City Room blog, the Lens blog dedicated to photography and as a web producer for The New York Times Magazine.
Prior to going to graduate school, Kim was a print newspaper reporter for more than a decade, a vocal proponent for giving newspapers a stronger presence online and spearheaded the use of social media in the newsroom. Her work has appeared in Willamette Week (Portland, Ore.), The Seattle Times (Seattle, Wash.), the Weekend Argus (Cape Town, South Africa) and KPCC Southern California Public Radio (Los Angeles, Calif.), among others.
