Avir Mitra

Avir Mitra is an artistic spirit trapped in a scientific mind, or the other way around. He's still working on it.

Like so many at Radiolab, Avir’s first involvement with the show was as an intern. He followed that up by touring the world with his band, Bamboo Shoots, playing music that Wikipedia pegs as "passport rock." The road, however, is wearying. Somewhere along his wandering, he decided, "It's time to make my immigrant parents proud and go to med school."

Now, he splits his time between saving lives as an ER doctor and reporting stories for Radiolab. With Avir co-hosting, Radiolab recently launched the live series Radiolab Presents: Viscera. These stage shows focus in on gripping tales about our weird and wonderful human bodies.
