Ave studied jazz in New York before beginning a career in radio…

For thirteen years she produced stories and interviews for programs including Studio 360 with Kurt Andersen and PRI's Fair Game, for the classical music station WQXR, and for New Yorker podcasts. She spent four years in advertising, where her projects included a Super Bowl spot with a singing fish. She returned to public radio to work on The New Yorker Radio Hour.
