Felice León

Felice León is a producer for Notes from America with Kai Wright.

León is an award-winning multimedia journalist who semi-recently completed the Nieman Journalism Fellowship at Harvard University. Prior to her time at Harvard, she was a video producer and presenter at a prominent African American news site, The Root. There, León focused on stories at the intersection of race, ethnicity and popular culture. At The Root, she also led an explainer series called “Unpack That"—from redlining to digital blackface, each episode delved into a topic specifically related to society's tenuous relationship with race.

In June 2021, León’s interview with the cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In The Heights went viral, making international headlines and sparking conversation about colorism in Latinx culture and representation in Hollywood, writ large. During her tenure at The Root, León also hosted and produced many of the site’s viral explainers and on-air interviews— they include one-on-ones with Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Viola Davis, Kevin Hart, Ava DuVernay, Misty Copeland, Regina King, Halle Berry, Keanu Reeves and Trevor Noah.

León is a proud native of Queens, New York.
