On-the-street sources say what appears to be our hypothetical common ancestor was seen trying to get a passport this morning.

Unfortunately, it turns out you can't get a passport without a name. We're waiting for our next sighting, but in the meantime, help the critter get away to spring break -- Cancun, reports Facebook -- by voting in the second-to-last round of March Mammal Madness.

Reporters note: The creature had no comment on preferred name -- by the time we arrived at the scene, the common ancestor was hailing a cab.
